Voice and Swallowing Disorders Clinic is run by the 1 st Otolaryngology Department of the School of Medicine, at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It takes place every Wednesday 9.30-11.00 at AHEPA Hospital.
Patients with voice and swallowing disorders of any aetiology are being treating by a team of Otolaryngologists and Speech Therapists led by A.Printza, Professor of Otolaryngology – Phoniatrics.
The diagnosis is based on validated questionnaires, screening tests, endoscopic and other specialized examinations of voice and swallowing.
Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) uses real food and liquids for the assessment of swallowing giving the opportunity to trial multiple eating strategies with various food consistencies. The patients understand what is happening when they swallow. Patients, family and other caregivers understand and learn how different postures or food textures or other interventions while eating will help swallowing.
Intracord injections are performed as office procedures for the treatment of voice and swallowing disorders. The patients are being trained by the Voice and Swallowing Clinic team at the safe swallowing and effective voice production.
